Battle Brothers Tip and Tricks - A Guide to Min/Max leveling and getting the best of your Brothers

Today's Tale is all about tips and tricks i have learned from playing the early access beta of Battle Brothers.

In this tips and tricks video I talk about hiring on new characters, what to look out for skill and talent wise. What to do while leveling your brothers and what to look out for late game wise, and what goals you need to aim for when leveling your battle brothers.

Battle Brothers is a turn based strategy RPG mix which has you leading a mercenary company in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go, whom to hire or to fight, what contracts to take and how to train and equip your men in a procedurally generated open world campaign. Do you have what it takes to lead them through bloody battles and to victory? The game consists of a strategic world map and a tactical combat layer. On the world map you can freely travel in order to take contracts that earn you good coin, find places worth looting, enemies worth pursuing or towns to resupply and hire men at. This is also where you manage, level up and equip your Battle Brothers. Once you engage a hostile party the game will switch to a tactical map where the actual fighting takes place as detailed turn based combat.

BATTLE BROTHERS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
In this FAQ you will find all your questions about our turn based strategy game Battle Brothers answered. If there is a question you have not found head over to the forums or shoot us an email at contact@battlebrothers.com.

WILL THERE BE MOD SUPPORT?

Maybe. We’d like to support modding eventually. However, our resources are limited and our priority is in creating the best possible core game first. It could be a while until modding becomes possible, if at all, and we can’t make any promises at this time.

WILL THERE BE MULTIPLAYER?

Battle Brothers is a singleplayer only game.

ARE YOU BE ABLE TO OWN A BASE?

No, as this would run counter to the concept of a roaming mercenary company.

ARE YOU BE ABLE TO BECOME KING OF THE LAND? CAN YOU BUILD A TRADE EMPIRE?

No. Battle Brothers is about leading a mercenary company of regular human beings in a low fantasy world, and that’s what we focus our resources on.

ARE THERE BE ELVES AND DWARFS I CAN HIRE? CAN I HIRE ORCS?

No. Battle Brothers is about leading a mercenary company of regular human beings in a low fantasy world.

ARE THERE MOUNTS FOR MY CHARACTERS?

No, the game is focused on skirmish-level infantry combat for now.

IS THERE A LEADER CHARACTER I CAN CREATE MYSELF THAT TAKES PART IN BATTLE?

No.

WILL THERE BE BATTLE SISTERS?

Not at first, as this would mean a considerable work-load when we want a whole lot of other things in the game, too. If ever there is an expansion beyond the initial release, we’d love to get female characters into the game as well. They’d come with their own backgrounds that take into account how a quasi-medieval world treats them, so they won’t just be male characters with different heads. Just like their male counterparts, some will be more and some will be less suited to the hard life as mercenaries.

WILL THERE BE OTHER ETHNICITIES PRESENT?

Not at first. If we ever get the chance to expand the game beyond it’s initial release we’d love to add different cultures to the game with the attention they really deserve. An oriental-based culture, for example, which could come with their own looks, names, character backgrounds, architecture, lore as conveyed by contracts and events, beasts based on oriental folklore, and loads of medieval-era equipment which actually makes a difference in gameplay.

Battle Brothers Tips & Tricks

Lok’tar Humans! Azbolg the Gaming Orc here to share some tips and tricks with you about this cool turned based strategy game called Battle Brothers. Here is some footage of me fighting a deadly camp army of ghouls. Read the description of the video for the text list of the tips!

1. Explore the map to find new enemy bases to fight.
2. Scout them out to see if you can take them over, I found that each one corresponds to your level, and you level to 5 pretty quick, so you can scale up very quickly and attack even deadly ones once you get to level 6 or so with most of your mercs.
3. Have a diverse group.
a. I have 4-5 of my group are archers, and they all get back up loot to start with in case they have to go hand to hand.
b. Try to have only 1 guy use a two hander
c. I have about 2-3 tanks which spec in the defensive tree to allow archers and flankers to get in.
d. Crossbows are ok, but only can shoot 1 round off, but you can run and fire the last shot in close combat before swapping weapons. This is good if you want to pick up Close Combat Archer in the tier 2 Offensive tree.
e. Javelins are pretty powerful don’t underestimate them.
4. Archery and javelins are very powerful. The key is waiting for your enemy so your front line troops can see the enemy charge, like ghouls which can only attack melee, and all Orcs. Poor Orcs.
5. There is pretty much no reason to not use a shield. A good combo is to maybe pick up quick hands in the Utility tree, so you have a roman like strategy, which is to throw javelin’s at your enemies then attack them with melee when they engage you. 1 javelin can kill a mob without a shield.
6. When you get to be about level 3-4 you will have 1000s of gold. This is where towns will have the best loot and soldiers. Restock though because supplies can be hard to come by on deep treks into the wilderness.
7. Armor is the most valuable item in the game, it keeps you alive. Buy the best armor when you can.
8. The billhook is a very powerful melee weapon. It hits like a truck, and also hits two spaces away. So you can put these troops behind front line defenders and really mow through opponents.
9. Riposte only if you are going to get attacked by two mobs, the AI is smart and will try to avoid attacking you to be reposted as well.
10. Later on food and supplies are pretty cheap, no reason not to buy a lot of them just in case.
11. In the offensive mercs I spec in this order: FAST ADAPTATION, SUNDERING STRIKES, EXECUTIONER, BESERK, (BULLSEYE for archers), HEAD HUNTER, KILLING FRENZY.
12. For defensive mercs I spec: COLOSSUS, SHIELD EXPERT, BATTLEFORGED, FORTOFIED MIND (for undead battles), STEEL BROW, RETURN FAVOR.
13. For utility mercs I spec: STUDENT, FAST ADAPTAION (in offensive tree), PATHFINDER, QUICK HANDS, FOOTWORK, FEARSOME, INSPIRING PRESENCE (undead battles).

And that’s it! Enjoy the rest of the video if you want to see me win against this DEADLY boss camp, and like, subscribe, and I’ll see you in the battlefields human!

Battle Brothers how to start guide for new players , Expert diff

This is on expert difficulty but you can apply it to any difficulty. The basics of the game are very hard to master and after 10-20 hours it will become a game of tasking risks or chosing the safe way.
All the weapons are good but most of them are situational
A good all around choice would be a shield and a sword....but NEVER equip your battle brothers the same, try to mix them up so you have the right tool for the right job.
The gameplay will change drastically with the DLC because it has a free update to the game but the starting will almost always be the same.
I will make more videos because with the dlc i think Battle Brothers will have the succes people wanted it to have.
Increasing the exploration and adding more mechanics was something we all wanted since it launched.

Overview.
Battle Brothers can be best described as a beautiful blend of mount and blade levels of simulation with hard core mechanics of Xcom, the game itself is split into two half's, the first is a expansive, dark, open fantasy world where your put in charge of a small group of mercenaries and through strategy guide them victory, this is where the RPG elements of the game are most clearly viable, tailor your individual party members, make sure they are feed well and ready for battle but buying them arms and amour, along with a whole host of other supplies; this brings us onto the second half of the game, the combat, in battle brothers every battle is fought on a procedurally generated map were the landscape and your own ability's as a commander take dominance, similar to Xcom the turns are take in initiative order and rewards those players that have a good grasp of their party's strengths and weaknesses, but beware death is always close at hand and even if your merry mercenaries live they may never be the same again.

Let's Play Battle Brothers - Ep. 100: Nothing Lasts Forever

Today, the Raiders lay siege to the Abandoned Walls, in search of another ancient relic. Could this be it? The key to finally putting an end to the Ancient Legion?

Then again, what good is a mercenary company once there are no more enemies to fight? If peace is indeed restored, then perhaps it's finally time for the Raiders to move on to bigger and better things...

I'm not associated with Battle Brothers or Overhype Studios in any way. I just like playing turn-based strategy and role-playing games, even though I'm not all that good at them.
