Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Shine Thief (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Shine Thief (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

What’s up everyone! This is Tim from TimPlaysAGame here with 10 Tips for Shine Thief battle mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. Are you having trouble getting and holding onto the Shine? Do you want to do better in online battles and tournaments? If the answer is yes and yes, then this video is for you. Follow these 10 simple tips and you’ll be making out like a bandit:T
1. Speed is key!
The objective of Shine Thief is to grab the Shine and run away with it. Outspeeding your opponents is essential to victory. It’s a good idea to use a character and kart with high Speed. That being said, it is also a good idea to not ignore Traction and Handling, as they will be very helpful to make turning easier.
2. Chase the Shine only if you have an item
Don’t be a follower! Take the initiative, grab an item, and then go after the player with the Shine. If you don’t have an item and your chasing the player with the Shine, you may unintentionally cause congestion and end up getting in the way of attack directed at the Shine player.
3. Avoid pileups
This ain’t bumper cars! Try not to drive into walls or into other players. Doing this may cause a pile-up. This will hurt your chances of winning and inadvertently help the player with the Shine. Try to avoid the edges of the battle course and brake if you see yourself heading towards a pile-up of karts.
4. Mushroom, Super Star, and Feather can steal Shine
Ramming an opponent with a Mushroom or Super Star can not only knock the Shine out of a player, but also allow you to steal the Shine from the person you just hit. The same effect can be done by jumping over players with a Feather, but requires a bit more finesse.
5. Focus items on the person holding the Shine
Don’t waste your time attacking players who don’t have the Shine. After all, they want the person holding the Shine to drop it just as much as you do. Instead, focus your attacks on the Shine player to hurt their chances of winning and potentially help yours.
6. While you have the Shine, you will slow down
You will notice that once you obtain the Shine that your Speed will drop. This means that it will be easier for opponents to chase and catch up to you. You’re going to have to be swift and make turns frequently. Mini-Turbos and Jump Boosts will also be essential to keeping a fast pace.
7. While you have the Shine, avoid the middle
The middle of the map is the sweet spot for attacks, so definitely avoid this and stick to the perimeter. This is a defensive maneuver, and I wouldn’t recommend going into the middle unless you are desperate to get away from players.
8. Look behind you often
Players are going to be following you as long as you have the Shine, so it pays to have eyes in the back of your head. Keep looking behind you to dodge your opponent’s attacks and plan your next move to dodge them.
9. Keep an eye on the Minimap
The Minimap will show you the position of each player. Use this to your advantage when trying to steal the Shine or trying to avoid other players while having the Shine. Plan to turn to avoid to many opponents who may be following you. Planning your next few moves will give you a preemptive advantage and the ability to control the game.
10. U-Turns are risky, yet affective
A risky, yet potentially game-winning maneuver is to perform a U-Turn while having the Shine. While driving, hold A and B Buttons while moving left or right with the Left Control Stick to perform a 180 degree turn. Once you are facing your opponents, drive directly towards them. This will give your opponents an opportunity to hit you, but it’s only a split-second opportunity. Performed correctly, you will speed away from your opponents while they are driving the opposite direction. This can only be done in Battle Mode and must be done carefully as it will leave you stopped for a second.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Balloon Battle (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Balloon Battle (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

What’s up everyone! This is Tim from TimPlaysAGame here with 10 Tips for Balloon Battle in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. Are you having trouble getting points in Balloon Battle? Do you want to do better in online battles and tournaments? If the answer is yes and yes, then this video is for you. Follow these 10 simple tips and you’ll be making your opponent lose more balloons than the old man in the movie Up:

1. Try not to lose your last balloon
The objective of Balloon Battles is to gain points by hitting your opponents with items. You are given 5 balloons to start, but lose your last balloon and you will lose half of your points. If you find yourself running out of balloons, it may be time to change your strategy and play more defensively.

2. Avoid the middle of the map
The middle of the map is the sweet spot for attacks, so definitely avoid this and stick to the perimeter. This is a defensive maneuver, and I wouldn’t recommend going into the middle unless you are desperate for points.

3. Be aggressive! Use Items often
You can’t hit the ball if you don’t swing. The more times you use your items, the greater the opportunity you will have to rack up points. You want to be aggressive, but strategic with your attacks. Make sure that your attacks will ricochet off walls and hit you as this will not give you any points, but you will lose a balloon.

4. Aim your attacks at Item Boxes
A great preemptive strike is to attack the area where most players will flock to, the Item Boxes. Shoot Shells, Bombs, Boomerangs, and Fireballs into this area to rack up some easy points should a player be driving towards these areas. Leave Banana Peels directly on the Item Boxes to pick up some sneaky points should a player drive over them.

5. Mushroom, Super Star, and Feather can steal balloons
Ramming an opponent with a Mushroom or Super Star can not only give you a point, but also allow you to steal a balloon from the person you just hit should you have 4 or less balloons. The same effect can be done by jumping over players with a Feather, but requires a bit more finesse.

6. Look behind you often
It is a battle after all, so watching your back is always a good idea. Press the X Button to take a peek at what’s going on behind you. Keep an eye out for opponents following you and planning to attack.

7. Use U-Turns to your advantage
Surprise those people behind you with a quick U-Turn. While driving, hold A and B Buttons while moving left or right with the Left Control Stick to perform a 180 degree turn. This can only be done in Battle Mode and must be done carefully as it will leave you stopped for a second.

8. Take out the leader
The person wearing the crown is the current leader. If you want to win, you’re going to have to take them out. When they lose their last balloon, their score will be cut in half. With more points for you and less points for your opponents, this is an effective and very aggressive strategy.

9. Keep moving
The most difficult to hit target is a moving target, so keep going and try not to stop or slow down. Try to avoid driving in straight lines as it makes you more likely to be hit by Green Shells. Constantly moving will make it easier for you to dodge enemy attacks and find more opponents to attack.

10. Practice on all eight stages
There are eight different Battle Mode stages in total. Practice battling on each stage is the best way to get familiar with all of the features of the stage and help you develop a strategy on each stage. Practice makes perfect, and perfection by definition is unbeatable.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Race Mode (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Race Mode (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

What’s up everyone! This is Tim from TimPlaysAGame here with 10 Tips for Race Mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. Are you having trouble getting first place in Grand Prix mode? Do you want to do better in online races and tournaments? If the answer is yes and yes, then this video is for you. Follow these 10 simple tips and you’ll be getting more gold than New Super Mario Bros 2:

1. Speed is key!
If you’re looking at the stats of your character and vehicle, you’re going to want to focus on Speed. Be wary though, the more Speed your character has, the more you sacrifice with other stats. For instance, less Accelerate and more Weight will make it difficult for your kart to get back up to speed should you get hit. Also, less Traction and Handling will make it difficult to negotiate the turns. The speediest characters in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are Wario, Dry Bowser, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, and Roy, but they require some serious skill to use effectively.

2. Rocket Start to gain an early lead
The best way to win a race is to get an early lead and keep it. Using a Rocket Start when the race begins is an effective way to get this early lead. When Lakitu is counting down to start the race, start accelerating just as the “2” appears without transparency. This will produce the longest Rocket Start and maybe rocket you to 1st place to start the race.

3. Grab the Double-Item Boxes & Coins whenever possible
Coins actually increase your speed, so try to gather the maximum 10 coins as soon as you can. Item Boxes give you items which can be used to help you, so having items is always good. I strongly suggest you grab the Double-Item Boxes whenever you can. Even if you don’t need the items, you can at least make sure the person close behind you doesn’t grab the Double-Item.

4. Drifting, Mini-Turbos & Jump Boosts are essential
Drifting is an important tactic to learn and master to make turns without losing speed. Drifting long-enough can produce a Mini-Turbo boost. Drifting even longer can produce a Super or Ultra-Mini Turbo for an even longer boost. Jump Boosts can be used by hitting the R Button after going over a ramp or ramp-like platform and will give you a brief speed boost when landing. Every little boost counts and will help you gain and keep the lead.

5. Draft & Spin Boost often. Beware of traps!
Drafting is essential to pass players who match your speed. Simply drive directly behind them, and you can slingshot yourself around them when you see wind streaks speed around you. Spin Boosting requires you to be in an antigravity zone. By colliding with an opponent, you and your opponent will spin around and get a brief speed boost. Be careful when using this tactic as players like to hold banana peels and shells behind them. Colliding with these items will stop you in your tracks.

6. Look behind you often
This really goes with saying, but it is always smart to have eyes in the back of your head. Press the X Button briefly to take a peek behind you to see what your opponents are up to. This is a great strategy to help you keep the lead.

7. Look for shortcuts
Every stage has shortcuts, speed boosts, and alternate routes you can take to give you an advantage in a race. Some may require you to go off course and/or use a Mushroom to be effective. Keep an eye out on each and every stage, looking for possible shortcuts to be used in future races.

8. Don’t hold onto items for too long
Holding onto items to be used at the right time is a good strategy, but remember these items can be taken from you with Lightning and a new item called “Boo”. This ghost will make you temporarily ghostly allowing you to pass through bananas and shells and steal an item from an opponent. You can hold your items for as long as you want, but you are a prime target to lose your items to Boo if you’re in first place.

9. Don’t be ashamed to use Auto Acceleration & Smart Steering
Two new features added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are Smart Steering, which prevents you from falling off the course, and Auto Acceleration, which allows your vehicle to accelerate automatically without holding the A Button. Though these features are made for beginner-level players, don’t feel guilty for using them until you get better. In fact, using Auto Acceleration is considered by some to be a pro move. Using Smart Steering has one drawback in that it prevents you from using an Ultra Mini-Turbo.

10. Practice on Time Trial
You know of the old adage: Practice makes perfect. This is no different. If you want to get better at racing on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you’re going to have play often. Time Trials are a great way to get better at specific race tracks. You are even given three Mushrooms to be used how you see fit. This is not only a great way to get used to the tracks, but to also find shortcuts and alternate routes that may give you an advantage in races.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Bob-omb Blast (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Bob-omb Blast (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

What’s up everyone! This is Tim from TimPlaysAGame here with 10 Tips for Bob-omb Blast in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. Are you having trouble hitting players with Bob-ombs? Are you being singled out with Bob-omb attacks? Do you want to do better in online battles and tournaments? If the answer is yes, yes and yes, then this video is for you. Follow these 10 simple tips and you’ll be blasting your way to victory:

1. Gather Bob-ombs frequently
You can have as many as 10 Bob-ombs at once. It’s always helpful to have a good supply of Bob-ombs to not only attack unsuspecting opponents when the opportunity presents itself, but also to fend off aggressive opponents following you.

2. Using multiple Bob-ombs increases your chances to score
Don’t just throw one Bob-omb hoping to hit someone. Instead use many Bob-ombs at once to increase your odds of hitting one or more opponents. Leave a string of Bob-ombs behind you to take out anyone following you or driving behind you. Remember it’s easy to get more Bob-ombs from item boxes, especially during the last minute of the game.

3. Avoid the middle of the map
The middle of the map is the sweet spot for attacks, so definitely avoid this and stick to the perimeter. This is a defensive maneuver, and I wouldn’t recommend going into the middle unless you are desperate for Bob-ombs or points.

4. Try not to lose your last balloon
In Bob-omb battle you are given 5 balloons to start, but lose your last balloon and you lose half (rounded up) of your points and are given 3 balloons to keep playing. If you find yourself running out of balloons, it may be time to change your strategy and play more defensively.

5. Take out the leader
The person wearing the crown is the current leader. If you want to win, you’re going to have to take them out. When they lose their last balloon, their score will be cut in half. With more points for you and less points for your opponents, this is an effective and very aggressive strategy.

6. Drop Bob-ombs near Item Boxes
A more passive strategy is to drive through a cluster of item boxes dropping a string Bob-ombs as you drive through. Players will naturally gather Item Boxes often, and laying Bob-ombs at these locations could yield some easy points. Even if you lay one Bob-omb near Item Boxes when other players are nearby could score an easy point.

7. Hold the item button to throw Bob-ombs further
Holding the ZR Button for a couple seconds before releasing it will launch a Bob-omb much further. This can be useful in hitting opponents without getting close to them. You also tap the ZR Button to shoot a bomb very closely in front of you.

8. Look behind you frequently
If you’re in the lead, chances are players will start tailing you and raining Bob-ombs down on you. It will be a good idea to keep looking over your shoulder. If you see a bunch of players following you, unload a string of Bob-ombs behind you. Chances are that will score you some points and keep the other players off your tail.

9. Keep an eye on the Minimap
You’re going to want to see where the other players are to either avoid them or plan an attack. Not only can you see the location of every player, but you can also see explosions from Bob-ombs. Use this map to avoid areas where Bob-ombs are exploding frequently.

10. Keep moving
The most difficult to hit target is a moving target, so keep going and try not to stop or slow down. Try to avoid driving in straight lines as it makes you more likely to be hit by Bob-ombs. Constantly moving will make it easier for you to dodge enemy attacks and find more opponents to attack.

This has been 10 Tips for Bob-omb Blast in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch. If you have any more tips or questions for me, feel free to post them in the comment section below. As always, I want to thank you all for watching. This is Tim from TimPlaysAGame signing off and goodnight.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Renegade Roundup (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 10 Tips for Renegade Roundup (Nintendo Switch) – TPAG

Authority Team

1. Guard the freaking jail cell!
I don’t know how many times that I’ve seen the Authority team lose these matches because Renegades keep opening jail cells and letting out the players that have already been captured. As long as there is one Authority player driving around the jail release button, that should be enough of a reason to guard a jail cell. This is also a great way to capture Renegades as they will regularly try to open a jail cell. Remember, the Authority team can’t win unless all of the Renegades are captured, and you can’t do this if the Renegades keep escaping.

2. Keep an eye on the Minimap
The Minimap in this mode will not show the location of the players on the Renegade team, but you will see them if they are being chased by an Authority teammate. The Minimap will be very helpful when trying to find hidden Renegades, especially if the Authority team is spread out in locations where no one else is looking.

3. Don’t chase! Get in front of them
When you see a Renegade drive past you, you may be tempted to follow them. Instead, try to get in front of them and take them out with one of your items. Remember, the Authority team only has three minutes to catch all the Renegades. It helps if you’re not wasting this time tailing one player trying to catch them.

4. Keep moving and use U-Turns when needed
You may think that remaining still in front of a jail cell waiting for Renegades to drive by is a good strategy. The problem with this is that you are easily spotted and easy to dodge. Instead of standing still, keep moving in some way so that when you do see a renegade, you won’t have to accelerate up to speed when you do get moving. Using U-Turns is a great way to change direction quickly without being completely stopped

5. Watch the siren!
An interesting function that your Piranha Plant has is the little flashing light on its head. When it starts flashing, it means that a Renegade is in your line of sight. This is a great function for finding hidden Renegades. Also, if you see your teammates sirens going off, it means they are chasing a renegade. This is great to know if there are only a couple renegades remaining.

Renegade Team

1. Run, but don’t hide!
Staying out of the Authority’s sight will help your team. This is why I suggest that you keep moving, drifting on turns, and use Mushrooms to escape any Authority pursuers. Hiding is not advised as it is difficult to do with your name always hanging over your head. If you’re stopped and hiding, it makes it easy for the Authority to catch up to you and difficult to accelerate and get away.

2. Free your allies when convenient
This really should go without saying. If your Renegade teammates do get captured, you’re going to want to free them to better your chances of winning. That being said rushing towards the jail cell release button without a plan is not a good idea, especially if that jail cell is being guarded. Grab an item or two, then make your way to the jail cell. Also, know that after you release your teammates the Authority will rush to your location to recapture the escaped Renegades. Make sure you are not captured in this process.

3. Look behind you frequently
Even though I suggested not to, the Authority team will chase you and use items to stun you to make it easier to catch up to and capture you. Keep looking over your shoulder to make sure you are not being set up to get caught. If you see someone chasing you, either try to find a quick escape or grab an item, do a quick U-Turn, and stun them with an attack.

4. While in jail, plan your escape
If you do get captured, know that your teammates will try to get you out if they want to win. Until then, your time in jail will be will spent planning an escape route. After you are released from your jail cell, you will get a speed boost and be immune for a couple seconds. This should be enough time for you to get away. I would also suggest steering clear of walls as hitting one upon escaping will make you a sitting duck for the Authority to recapture you.

5. Time is on your side
The main objective for the Renegade team is to avoid capture until the 3-minute time limit has expired. Aside from avoiding capture and freeing your teammates, wasting as much time as possible is an effective strategy. During the last minute, you can either drive around the perimeter of the stage or grab some items to defend yourself. Do whatever you have to do to remain uncaptured until the timer hits zero.
