Shadow Tactics - Fun with Shadow Mode

There's something oddly satisfying to press just one button and watch everything play by itself... Who doesn't love it when the plan comes together. :)

Shadow Mode is a cool feature, although not almighty. You still need to do a lot of work yourself when planning against higher number of enemies.

Bear Trap Murders, Ninja Cowboys And 6 More Desperados 3 Features You’ll Love

Desperados is back in Desperados 3, a real-time tactical stealth game from Mimimi, the makers of Shadow Tactics. They’re swapping ninjas for cowboys and in this new Desperados III gameplay we pick out 6 reasons this is a return to form for cowboy stealth.

If you didn’t play the earlier Desperados games, here’s the basic setup: you have to get sneaky tiny cowboys into places that tiny cowboys shouldn’t be. That means making your way around vision cones and using a large range of abilities to play havoc with enemy patrol patterns. It’s a brilliant mix of stealth and cartoon western heroes, from the knife-throwing John Cooper to new hero Hector, and his giant bear traps.

Desperados 3 mixes up the classic formula by giving our heroes large sandbox towns and maps to explore - these aren’t just enemy infested worlds where you get shot in a second, but living towns where you sniff out hints about assassinations and find new routes to your targets. It’s a bit like Hitman in a Stetson, and that’s a mighty strong pitch to me. As you’ll see in our Desperados 3 PC gameplay, our target is locked away safely, but her whiskey supply is more exposed. Hmmm, a plan is slowly coming together….

Developers Mimimi Productions have good form with stealth games - the outstanding Shadow Tactics showed us what they could do. Seeing their ideas from that game mix with the wild west setting is a perfect match, and our Desperados 3 impressions explain how they are polishing up the cowboy world and bringing a lot more character and freedom to it.

This Desperados 3 gameplay takes place in one mission from the alpha build, but we hear about lots of other cool stuff in the game, like Showdown Mode, new characters and missions types - you’ll just have to watch the video to learn more. It will be coming to PC in 2019, when we will make lots more lovely videos about it. In order not to miss our future PC coverage of the game, why not subscribe to the channel before we proceed? I’ll also answer any questions you have if you pop them in the comments below. Thanks for reading and watching.

Here are the obligatory hashtags we now have to include: #desperados3, #rps, #hitmanwithbetterhats

Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun is a real-time stealth tactical game from Mimi Producions. In the year 1615 in Japan, a new Shogun seizes power over Japan and enforces nationwide peace. In his battle against conspiracy and rebellion, he recruits five specialists in assassination, sabotage and espionage.

The team must fight against the mysterious Kage-sama, who plans to overthrow the Shogun. They infiltrate castles, gather information through espionage, fight rebellions and ruthlessly eliminate Kage-sama’s allies. The group is comprised of very different personalities; working together as a team seems impossible at first. Yet over the course of many missions, trust is won and friendships are made. The characters develop their own dynamic and each member will face some kind of personal drama.

====

Skillfully hide from and sneak past the enemies fields of view, take their formations apart and hide their bodies to cover your tracks. Quick Save will enable you to execute your plans perfectly. Tactically plan actions for your whole team and execute them all at once. Make use of the vertical gameplay and jump from roof to roof to silently kill your foes from above.

Play it your way: Dozens of solutions to take enemy setups apart, you can creatively use all of your resources – characters, skills and environment – to outsmart, sneak past, kill or knock out enemies

Small team vs. large enemy force: Control a team of five specialists, including a ninja, a samurai and a geisha, and take on an overwhelming opposition.

Careful planning, fast execution: Observe the enemy and plan your approach, because when it’s time to act, you must be quick, precise and undetected.

About Bjorn Strongndarm’s Let’s Play:

Games are fun! They’re even more fun when shared with others. I record and upload what I play in order to share these experiences with others.

I provide relaxed, family-friendly yet mature commentary while playing. Some people occasionally even find it entertaining! (Although I make no promises.) I don’t claim to be particularly good at gaming; often, the most fun comes from failing in the most spectacular of ways. Losing is Fun! (I’m looking at you, Dwarf Fortress.) But I do try to get better.

I play a lot of RimWorld, a bit of Minecraft, and other indie games as and when I can. If you want to share these gaming experiences with me, then welcome!

(Oh, and it’s pronounced “Bee-Yorn Strong-in-the-arm”, with thanks to Sir Terry Pratchett.)

Let's Play Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (Blind) - Mission 10: Betrayal at Mount Tsuru

Perhaps one of the hardest missions so far. This is my second attempt because I screwed up badly the first time. We're have to free all of out team members, get their weapons and get the hell out of this mount. And try to cheer up Mugen.

Also I am deeply DEEPLY sorry how late this episode was uploaded. The export process failed like over 5 times, each taking about 10 or so hours. I finally decided to try re-edit and cut the entire video from scratch. Luckily it worked and I could use my old video recordings so I didn't need to replay the entire mission again. Again, I apologize for this almost two week long delay. But hey, you get two episodes of Shadow Tactics at the same time now (this and #11). I get back to my routine schedule and continue playing this, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines and Duke Nukem 3D: 10th Anniversary World Tour now that this issue has been resolved.

And lastly, about the editing of this video; I have cut many parts out of this video, more than I perhaps normally do, in order to make the episodes as short as possible while I complete the entire mission in one go and not to bore you guys. I would like to have some feedback whether I have done good job at the editing or have I cut too much or too little? Let me know so I'll do it better in the future!
