10 best tips for playing Shadow Warrior 2

How to Play Shadow Warrior 2 - Complete Starter Game Guide! (Movement, Combat, Menus and More)

Here's my complete kickstart game guide for the video game, Shadow Warrior 2. This was created after completing the game on Normal difficulty (93%, all story missions and most side missions).

40 Minutes of Shadow Warrior 2 Gameplay (State of the Walkthrough Address)

Shadow Warrior 2 was released for PC on October 13, 2016 and will be released soon for PS4 and XboxOne. This game is a role-playing shooter very similar to Borderlands in that it is a first-person shooter with role-playing elements. Players have over 70 weapons to choose from and hundreds of weapon upgrades which can be applied to change how weapons function.

There is a leveling system where, during gameplay, players are awarded XP which accumulates allowing you to level up, earn 'skill points' and apply those skill points to various bonuses and special powers. In this manner, players can create a personalized character build similar to that of role-playing games.

Currently, Shadow Warrior 2 is available on Steam and on GOG.com (I recommend the latter).

Shadow Warrior 2 features rampant in-your-face gameplay and insanely funny dialogue. Also features co-op multiplayer gaming. One of the best shooters I've played in a while. I personally enjoyed it more than the recent remake of DOOM. Quality game engine, intuitive menus, fairly bug-free campaign (only one glitch in my entire first playthrough). I highly recommend this game.

A complete and REAL walkthrough of this game will follow shortly.

+ Changes for Patch 1.1.3.0:
-- DO Level up Like the Wind as soon as possible , it will improve your dash and help you kite better as enemies are insanely fast and aggressive after the patch , dont get cornered.
-- DONT level up Auto Reload , they nerfed it and it isnt worth the points anymore ( 20s timeout on highest tier )
-- DONT level up Second Chance , the moment you are brought back to life ( 50% hp recovered at 4th tier ) , you will die soon after , probably because of 3-4 auras waiting to burn you the moment you wake up , if not because that , you still wont be able to dash out while surrounded by angry monsters , unless Lo Wang's dash is a Blink or Flash.
--GET atleast 1 or 2 lifedrain gem for the Armor Upgrades for better survivability.

(...will update the build as long as im still around when new balance patches hit. I might stop when im done playing the game.)

Shadow Warrior 2 - i5 4690K & GTX 1070 - FPS Test and Settings

Greetings, everyone.

Today we’re testing Shadow Warrior 2, Flying Wild Hog’s newest game and the sequel to Shadow Warrior 2013, the amazing remake of one of the funniest and bloodiest first person shooter franchises.

As usual before getting into details, here’re my current PC specs:

-CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO.
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97).
-GPU: Inno3D Twin X2 GTX 1070 (+155 core, +200 mem) and latest WHQL driver (372.90).
-RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB where both game and O.S. are installed.
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.
-Running at 1080p-144Hz native resolution.

The first thing we notice when looking at the options menu for this game is lots of options, which is a good indication of a proper PC game; indeed, we have FOV slider (vertical) with a huge range of values, so everyone should be happy no matter what aspect ratio we use.

The game has 4 graphical presets, from Low to Ultra, and we can see in the video that the game looks at least as good as the previous one, and quite better too in some places because they’ve added a lot more foliage and cool effects to the game this time around.

The lowest quality preset makes the game look very bland and plain, but should be enough for those at very low end of the spectrum of GPUs to enjoy the game; the Medium preset gets a substantial image quality boost from the lowest one, and most of the basic graphical settings appear in their lower values, some even higher.

On the High preset the game already looks good enough to be on par with the game from 2013, maybe even better because it has more effects like Volumetric Fog or Temporal Antialiasing, which the original lacked (only had FXAA). If you’re short on video RAM, the High preset is good enough for those with 2GB GPUs, for sure, at 1080p.

With the Ultra preset we achieve the best possible visuals, and we can see the 1070 handling the game pretty well here, over 100 FPS at all times, at least from the bits I tested so far.

Some settings like the Volumetric Fog I mentioned are not well suited for low end GPUs, and it seems the developers opted for either ON or OFF settings here depending on if we set these options to High or Low, we can see this in the video in the case of the Volumetric Fog: the Low setting practically disables all fog, while the High setting offers a nice and dense fog wherever possible. Same goes for Bloom, its strength cannot be set, only ON or OFF here as well.

By the way, one setting I didn’t know what it did, when I was making the video, is NVIDIA’s Multi-Res Shading; turns out that setting can be actually pretty useful, because it lowers the quality of the peripheral regions of your screen, so only the center region is rendered at full resolution. This can be very useful for multi monitor setups where the peripheral screens don’t need to be at full resolution since your brain won’t be able to tell the difference in motion because your eyes are not directly looking. I thought, reading its description, that it only worked with multiple screens, but I watched a video from NVIDIA about it and it’s pretty cool actually, so maybe you guys can give it a try and see if you gain any extra frames. More info on this here:

In any case, compared to Shadow Warrior 2013, the game seems like a clear visual improvement, still keeping that touch that made the previous title so good, at least visually. And in my opinion the game is very well optimized, since we can scale performance a lot by lowering the settings, so those with lower end systems may be able to enjoy it as well.

As usual, I hope this video can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you in the next one : )

Shadow Warrior 2: Secret Room, Larry, And Demon Wang Part 3

I found some really interesting stuff in this part some better than other but still pretty cool. This video has more Wang than usual.

Shadow Warrior 2 - i5 4690K & GTX 770 - FPS Test and Settings

Greetings, everyone.

After testing Shadow Warrior 2 on my GTX 1070 I also wanted to give it a go with my old GTX 770, because I believe the game can be very playable with that kind of GPU as well on my system and, as it turns out, it’s true.

As usual before getting into further details, here’re my current PC specs:

-CPU: i5 4690K@4.4 GHz with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO.
-Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger (Z97).
-GPU: Asus GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2 GB with no extra OC and latest WHQL driver (373.06).
-RAM: 16 GB DDR3@1866, 9-10-9-28.
-Storage: Kingston SSDNow 300, 240 GB where both game and O.S. are installed.
-O.S: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit with latest updates.
-Running at 1080p-144Hz native resolution.

To be honest, we know the GTX 770 is getting a bit too long in the tooth these days, especially those with 2 GB VRAM, it’s a very limited amount of video memory for today’s high resolution textures in games, but fortunately decent game developers like Flying Wild Hog still exist and know how to properly optimize games for a wide range of PC configurations.

This is something we already saw on my previous video running on my 1070, but here with the 770 we can see it even better: the GPU only struggles a bit when using Ultra settings and even with all those enabled, it’s still between 50 and almost 60 FPS…for a 770 that I didn’t bother to overclock and it’s running at its stock factory values (a bit OC’ed from Asus but that’s all).

The great optimization done here with Shadow Warrior 2 can be clearly seen when we lower the settings; of course, using the Low preset gives us plenty of frame rate to spare, especially for those running 60 Hz monitors, but the game looks quite bad here. Higher presets is where is at here, and since the High Textures only require up to 2 GB VRAM (and we can see the VRAM usage only got to that mark when using Ultra Textures), we’re good just using those textures on the High setting.

As for the rest of the graphical settings, honestly, I’m quite impressed that we can enable most of them, even on High and the GTX 770 handles them quite well, it’s clear here that Flying Wild Hog have used very optimized particle, shadow and fog systems here because even when using Volumetric Fog and Shadows on High, the game still runs at 60 FPS, that’s amazing right there.

Now, as usual if we want way more than 60 FPS, the 770 needs to render lower resolutions than 1080p, but that’s where the Resolution Scale setting comes in handy, as we can lower the scale to 90% and we almost gain like 10 FPS, which gives us a bit more room to crank a couple settings up and basically being at Ultra levels minus the textures, of course, which look quite fine at High.

In my opinion I can say I feel quite impressed but it’s no surprise here, after testing the game yesterday on my GTX 1070 I knew there was some decent optimization going on there, and looking at what amazing performance I can squeeze out of my good old GTX 770 refutes this fact, the game runs well even on a high end GPU from 2013 and that, right there, is decent optimization on a video game, so certain developers *cough*Mafia 3*cough* should take notes, this is how you make proper PC games that scale decently with their settings.

As usual, I hope these kind of videos can be useful to any of you, thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one : )
