Sunless Sea: Zubmariner - How to Make Money Trading - A Stoic Plays

A Hitchhiker's Guide to Early Access: Sunless Sea

Hello from 2015! It's a new year, time to start back in with some new content. This time we are taking a look at the very interesting Sunless Sea by Failbetter Games. Set in the world of Fallen London, the Neath, and the Unterzee, we find ourselves adrift in a black sea of very well written stories, dismal but whimsical, and vaguely unsettling events in a mysterious world for you to explore and attempt to understand.
Highly recommended if you like to be pleasantly confused, get it here:

Ranneko's Zailing Tips 7 - Legacies

How does the legacy system work in Sunless Sea? It can be a little confusing and some parts don't quite work the way you might expect.

Sunless Sea Legacies | An Adumbration of Her Heart | +10 Pages | Explore the Abyss

Read more for the quick answers!

So, back to Sunless Sea. I've been exploring the Zubmariner content, and here's how to get a very easy legacy, which also boosts stats insanely on later playthroughs.

An Adumbration of Her Heart requires that you explore the many, many Abysses littered under the Zee. Perhaps you've ventured into them and found the dark cathedrals waiting below?

When you sail(?) over one, an interaction will appear. There are four in total (spread randomly across 16 or so abysses), and you need to submerge all four in the correct order.

First, the Abyss of Scriptures, then Pyres, Pomegranates and finally the Abyss of Graves. Dive twice (a tricky hearts challenge), and start the appropriate rituals.

When all are complete, it's Elemental time. What will you choose?

Good luck!

Sunless Skies Game Description:

Sunless Skies is a Gothic Horror roleplay game with a focus on exploration and exquisite storytelling.
Command a flying steam locomotive

The only thing between you and the waste-winds, storms and cosmic lightning is your engine. Tend and upgrade it, buy weaponry and exotic equipment, and keep her hull in good shape to hold the hostile Heavens at bay.
Explore a unique and dangerous universe

You play the captain of a locomotive, a steam engine fitted for off-rail travel: sailing the stars, leading your crew into trouble and out of their minds. Smuggle souls, barter for crates of time, stop for cricket and a cup of tea.

Discover more of the deep, dark and marvelous Fallen London Universe, as seen in our previous game, SUNLESS SEA. (You can play either game first, the stories coexist happily.)

Fight her majesty's agents, pirates and abominations of the skies

Face ships of differing factions and unknowable beasts each with different attacks and agendas.
Survive starvation, madness and terror.

Manage your crew’s condition and your captain’s nightmares. Balance fuel and supplies against your desire for new horizons, knowledge or riches. Struggle with sights never meant for human eyes. How will the dark change you?
Recruit officers on your adventures

Populate your ship with unique, upgradeable officers, each with their own quest to fulfill: an incautious driver, an incognito princess, a repentant devil, and - dear god! - your Aunt?! How did she get out here?

Discover your captain’s past through narrative levelling

Reveal your captain’s past deeds as facets of their personality as you progress. Most captains will perish, but their actions will leave a mark on the world for their descendants - for better or worse. Pass on some effects, and return anew to deal with events that your previous captain put into motion.

THE WORLD

The High Wilderness is a wondrous vision of space: shifting, wind-swept ruins where the laws of the cosmos are not as we imagined.

The stars are alive. They are the Judgments: vast intelligences that govern all things. But they are dying. One by one, something is snuffing them out, leaving their thrones empty.

Unfettered by trivial things like gravity, the Victorian Empire have pushed their tendrils into this new world, and their ambition is savage. They have built a new Sun. The Empress Victoria reigns from the Throne of Hours, which gives her control over time.

Your Captain and crew must carve out a life between the stars. Will you support her majesty and the establishment, or the working class rebels who yearn for freedom from the Workworlds?

FEATURES

Multiple, intertwining stories with a depth and richness unlike anything else in games, inspired by CS Lewis, Jules Verne, Lovecraft and HG Wells

Lush, hand-drawn 2d art to match

Four giant regions to explore: celestial wilderness, impossible industrial empire, pagan midnight expanse, and the mysterious Blue Kingdom.

A choice of play styles: build a lineage of captains as each dies, or reload your most recent captain and continue

Key remapping and full controller support

Let's Play Sunless Sea Zubmariner Episode 10 - Mt Nomad? No Thank You! - Gameplay Part 10

Welcome to my let's play series of Sunless Sea - Zubmariner by Failbetter Games! In Sunless Sea you start as a Captain of a small boat in the vast expanse of the Underzee and you are tasked with exploring the waters around Fallen London which has literally fallen in to the underworld... hence the name. *ahem* And that's just the start... in the new Zubmariner DLC you can take the helm of your very own submarine and discover what is really below the waves... if you dare.

And being on the gates of Hell brings it's own unique situations! From ferrying passengers to tomb colonies to lending a hand in a war between rats and guinea pigs there are plenty of interesting stories to discover and become involved in first hand!

In this episode we continue our journey into unknown waters northward where we come across THE BIGGEST MONSTER EVER. It's as big as a mountain. It IS a mountain. Mt Nomad to be precise! We also come across the Avid Horizon where we stare in to the abyss for a while, Mount Palmerston and the Sea of Lillies where our loyal Chef does a runner... thanks a lot!

--- Sunless Sea Zubmariner Gameplay Overview ---

LOSE YOUR MIND. EAT YOUR CREW. DIE.

Take the helm of your steamship and set sail for the unknown! Sunless Sea is a game of discovery, loneliness and frequent death, set in the award-winning Victorian Gothic universe of Fallen London.

If the giant crabs, sentient icebergs and swarms of bats don’t get you, madness and cannibalism certainly will. But that old black ocean beckons, and there’s loot for the brave souls who dare to sail her.

Betray your crew, sell your soul to a Devil, marry your sweetheart. Survive long enough and you’ll achieve your life’s ambition.

You will die, but your legacy will live on…

-- Key features --

- A deep, compelling world packed with 350,000+ words of stories and secrets. Find your father’s bones. Determine London’s destiny. Defy the gods of the deep sea.

- Beautiful, hand drawn art - castles of sparkling ice, prisons perched on lily pads, fog-shrouded lighthouses and the DAWN MACHINE.

- Your captain will die. But you can pass on resources from one generation to the next. Acquire a family home and a hoard of heirlooms. Build up your own story across generations of zailors who braved the sea and lost - or won...

- Real-time combat against ships and Zee-beasts, spider-crewed dreadnoughts and sentient icebergs.

- Light and dark, terror and madness: stray too far from the gas-lamps of civilisation and your crew will grow fearful and eventually lose their sanity.

- Upgrade your steamship with powerful engines, cannons and pneumatic torpedo guns. (Or buy a bigger, better ship.)

- Hire unique officers like the Haunted Doctor and the Irrepressible Cannoneer. Each has a story to tell, if you can draw it out of them.

- Choose a ship’s mascot: the Comatose Ferret, the Wretched Mog, the Elegiac Cockatoo, and more!

- Trade or smuggle silk and souls, mushroom wine and hallucinogenic honey.

Sunless Sea - Engines: The Serpentine & The Genial Magician + Prudent/Urbane/Satisfied Magician

Playlist:

So, how to get the Serpentine Engine in Sunless Sea. First up, you'll need to recruit the Genial Magician in London, then follow his Storylet to promote him to the Satisfied Magician.

For this, you're going to need around 2000 echoes:
1200 for the engine
500 for one of the story parts
~150 for Honey (unless you have a very high mirrors score)
1 Scintillack (Port Cecil)
3 Secrets

Anyway, first port of call is Venderbight (if you're lucky) or Irem (with some coffee). Then off to Khan's Heart (bring 500 echoes), and then back to London, to the Forgotten Quarter. Assuming luck goes your way, you'll get Serpentine.

Everything you need to know about Sunless Skies
